My guess has always been it is priority in the Tradestation program
code. It just happens after a lot of other stuff where paintbars
bypass all the other stuff. More resources help but no matter how big
your computer it still falls way later. A really busy market can make
it take several times as long.

I have a trading system that I am working on based on alerts which writes
text on the chart at the
moment the signal is generated. I have also written a paintbar to go with
the system.
Can anyone tell me why the paintbar paints the bar instantly and the alert
lags by 10 or 15 seconds
sometime? I'ts the same code. the alerts are a lot easier to respond to but
are late.
Is this a system resource problem ? or what? John
