Re: RadarScreen...minimum computer setup?

Bob Fulks told you some good ideas.

Do you have eminis in the Global server? If so are they setup as
futures or something else like index or stock. This is a huge help if
you change that.

When you actually have a problem and start using the task manager to
close things this further screws up the whole program. Even a reboot
may not fix it all. What gets messed up is Workspaces for sure and
then all sorts of stuff in the registry. If I had been having
problems I would make note of all my workspace information then do a
clean install of the program and build new workspaces.

Yes your machine is probably a bit light for what you are doing also.
I would look at least at Hyperthreading. AMD doesn't call it
hyperthreading but their stuff works really well also.

What's the minimum computer setup to have RadarScreen running well? I have it running on a PIII
1000mHz with 512mb ram and it is a basket case. It will run for a while and then either freeze up
or slow down the computer so much that I have to close it or end task it. When I'm not using it to
trade I close the RadarScreen quote monitor page just to prevent problems. Without it my TS2000i
runs well, with just an occasional workspace corruption problem(once a month or less).

I've learned the hard way never to change my mind and ask it to do something (ie sort a column)
while it's trying to do something else (ie adding a symbol to the quote monitor)...it will either
lock up or go into hourglass mode, and that lasts for 20-30 minutes if I have the patience and then
if I'm lucky it might resolve the issue and resume functioning. When I open a RadarScreen quote
monitor page I have to be careful what I'm doing while it is opening (400 symbols, 4 filters, 10
columns), takes about 1-2 minutes to open and scan all the symbols, because multitasking at this
point can also cause it to freeze up. I'm using Win2000 so it's sometimes possible to end task
ORRadar.exe without closing TS2000i, but that's small consolation.

This RadarScreen is mui delicado. Are there others on the list running it with impunity, without
any of these daily (hourly?) problems I've mentioned. How does it run with a P4 and hyperthreading?
Or on a dual cpu computer? Would the problems go away if I added another 512mHz ram?

I haven't seen much mention of RadarScreen on the list, but I'd like to hear from anyone who uses
it.
