No. That's like asking if anybody knows of a way to convert all
the features of a Porsche into a bicycle. The bicycle will take
you anywhere you want to go -- it will go places the Porsche
can't -- but it ain't a Porsche.

You can do many things in Excel. You can do many things you
can't do in TS. You can even write trading systems in Excel.
However it is excruciatingly painful for anything beyond the
simplest system ideas. The charting facilities are limited at
best, and there are no interactive charting features like you
have in TS.

There's a Yahoo group, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xltraders,
devoted to writing trading systems in Excel. Subscribe to that
group and spend a few days reading through the archives. You'll
find that most of the conversations are based around "how can I
get Excel to do XYZ" -- typically things that are transparent or
trivial in TS. Unless you're an Excel wizard, expect to spend
much more time fighting with Excel than you do with TS.

I'm not saying it's not possible. Obviously there are people out
there who DO use Excel for trading. I'm just saying TS is
tailor-made for writing trading apps, and Excel is not. Think of
TS as a chainsaw; it's designed for sawing through logs, and not
much else. Excel is a Swiss army knife that can do all kinds of
things, like screwing in screws or opening wine bottles. It can
even saw through a log. But it wouldn't be my first choice of
tools for that job.
