Riley,
Many years ago the boys at Omega Research/Tradestation managed to ?help?
me several times with TS4 then TS2ki. That phone support was great
you wait and wait and then follow their instructions exactly and find,
in then end, you lost all your data due to their instructions. Then
next time you call them you say "wont that delete all my data?" and
they say yes but it is the only way. Thus my new career started,
fixing Tradestation on my own.
The reason I rename the Omega Research folder OR2 is simply to make it
a safety net. To have all my data, workspaces and indicators away
from TS2ki when it installs to C:/Program Files/Omega Research as the
default location. I have installed many times on top of the old
folder (still made a copy elsewhere for safety) but I found that
occasionally installing on top of the old instillation didn't work
right so I started renaming the folder it would be there after the
clean install and safe. Then I would copy MyWork and Server folders
to the new install. Universe folder also if you have made changes to
it.
So now to your problem. First thing you do is simply right click on
the Omega Research folder and choose rename. We don't want to delete
it. Name it anything you want as long as you remember the name. Now
if you want to copy it or move it and Windows will not allow it be
sure all the TS2ki stuff is turned off. Lets see if I remember the
processes running in the task manager.
ts32.exe
Ortc.exe
server.exe
oredit32.exe
ortrade.exe
XPrtCom.exe
orschd.exe
I think that is all of them. Be sure they are off. Reboot and see if
they are off. If any of those processes are on then check to see if
you are load the server or something automatically at startup/reboot.
Do your install then copy the folders (MyWork & Server) from the old
install to the new one. Then you can delete the old folder if things
run ok. If it doesn't delete then are you using delete correctly?
Are you logged in as administrator or have administrator privileges?
If at the start before you installed clean if you deleted the Omega
Research folder in the REGISTRY under (HKEY_CURRENT_USER then expand
software...) then the program is wiped it is gone it will not run
except on the new install when you install it.
So you should be running on the new install. If you still can't
delete the old folder then it wont hurt you. I'm not a delete expert.
That part of my brain was accidentally deleted some time ago.
