You don't say which version of Dynastore you have, but if it's DS5 with the
"virtual serial port", I would suggest scrapping the virtual port and going
to a serial cable --
I spend 6 months working with a world-class computer guru, trying to get it
working properly on both win-98 and XP PCs, but finally had to split the
load between two XP PCs -- one running a Hyper-Threaded CPU which allows
distributing the CPU load --
One XP PC runs DS5 and sends the data to a 2nd XP PC that runs both TS4
Server & Charting -- Prior to this config, data flow after daily Market
opening would lag anywhere from a few minutes to 90 minutes --
Another alternative is a dual-CPU PC, which you can probably find on eBay
-- I know someone with this config and says it works well --
Others on the O-List will likely dispute some of this, but that is all that
worked after 6 frustrating months of attempting everything else possible--
I would highly recommend XP over Win-98 (others prefer Win-2000), but XP
needs to be tweaked for best performance --
Good Luck! -- if your experience turns out to be anything like mine, you'll
need it!

Hello OList,
I need some help with something that is puzzling me. I recently
setup a new PC with PIII 1.0 ghz chip, 512mb RAM, 20gb HD with W98SE as
the operating system. I copied my TS4 into the new PC from my old PC.
That PC is a AMD 750 mhz chip, 512mb RAM, 10 gb HD, and W95c operating
system. The old PC runs like a charm, while the new PC chokes with
insufficient system resources. My datafeed is ESignal with the Dynastore
interface. Having gone through slowing systems before, I have followed
Dynastore's recommendations for Windows tuning. What is so perplexing to
me is why this new PC gets so choked up that it freezes due to too few
resources. I would have thought that the new PC would have been an
improvement. The only difference is that the new system uses Esignal
Winros v7.6 vs 6.4( i think) on the old system. Anyone have any
suggestions as to how to improve the efficiency of this new PC?
