Dear Natalia,
Thank you for your reply. What you described in your email is
exactly the problem. I don't need the frustration of having to
manually create symbols from scratch, when they were already in
the symbol dictionary but not in my portfolio. Creating symbols
is more than just specifying whether it's a stock or a future;
the exchange times and tick increments also need to be set -- and
in my experience Hyperserver *doesn't* draw this information from
TradeStation's symbol dictionary.
I don't know in advance what I will need in my portfolio; it changes
frequently, and what I need updated changes frequently. I have
found HyperServer to be quite unfriendly in this regard, denying me
the flexibility to add and remove symbols from my portfolio as I
need them without creating them manually.
