Someone wrote in the TSW forum that they ran TS on a 64-bit system, but it
seemed slower and was buggy. Part of it wasn't the fault of TS, but of
Windows as well. The problem with new hardware is that the software
manufacturers often do not (or can not) plan for a change in hardware, and
so it takes a while for the software to catch up to the new hardware*.
Windows and TS is optimized for a 32-bit system and so probably wouldn't
work any better on a 64-bit chip architechture.

* Another example of this was in the mid-90's, when IBM's Aptiva boasted a
dual processor motherboard. However, Windows 95 couldn't even recognize a
second processor, so most people were paying extra $$$ for a chip that
didn't do anything. Realizing this, IBM quickly scrapped the dual processor
idea.

Has anyone run the new 64-Bit Athlon CPU with Tradestation ?

Is this a significant jump in performance from Pentium 4 ?
