Carroll,

I'm pretty sure you are correct about the messenger service and the
UPS but I do not think that messenger has anything to do with the MSN
messenger.  Isn't the MSN messenger the one that is dangerous?  I
totally uninstalled the MSN messenger and my APC UPS talks to my
computer fine.  I didn't disable the messenger service under services.

So what was the start of this tread.  Is it the MSblast worm?  It uses
RPC and maybe it does use messenger service.  I haven't looked.
Anyone out there know?  I do know my router & firewall stops blast dead.
