Thanks for reminding me guys. I reinstalled XP a while back and forgot
to disable the Messenger service.

In Win XP: 
Start - Programs - Administrative Tools - Services
Right click Messenger and choose Properties
Click the Dependencies tab to see if anything you care about depends on
  the Messenger service
If not, click the General tab, change Startup to Disabled, change Status
  to Stopped
