Mike, see http://www.ntcompatible.com/faq328.shtml for instructions on
removing messenger service from XP.
A quicker and reliable way is to go to Start->Run and paste the following
into the dailog box:
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
Or you can use both methods. Not sure if the second one works after all
the XP service packs have been installed.
