I have had this problem with several devices: a Belkin Omni-Cube KVM,
and a Cybex Long-View Extender. Plus a few generic types.

I don't think these are OS problems. After all, these devices simply plug in
in place of a regular keyboard. Some engineers simply make mistakes.
Although one would think that a PS/2 input is quite simple.

I recommend going wireless, at least for the keyboard. Gyration makes an
excellent RF keyboard. And a mouse. Plug the wireless keyboard into the
computer instead of the KVM keyboard output. This avoids the switching
logic in the KVM. I no longer use the Cybex key/mouse inputs for a
remote station, using the Gyration mouse and keyboard directly into the
computer. And I no longer use a KVM at all, since I found that mode of
operation confusing.
