RE: TradeStation 7 Feedback

If the pattern with 2000i is any indication 7 will eventually be made
usable. The best way to know when this happens seems to be to follow the
discussions on TradeStation World (assuming one has access), and if and when
things look good there, confirm usability with people on this list or others
one can contact.

According to TradeStation World, 7.1 is scheduled for early May and will be
the first 7 release offered to all customers. It seems unrealistic to think
that it will fix all the significant bugs. It's hard to get a good fix on
when the new version might be usable, although things should be a little
clearer after the release of 7.1. Right now there is a torrent of serious
bug reports; watch for when the quantity and the seriousness start abating.

TradeStation World says 6 will be available through the end of 2003.

HC,

Since you asked, here is the answer -

Following Stephen Pepe's response, a man by the name Al called me on 4/17
and told me that
one of possible causes of my problems is my Windows XP Home edition instead
of Pro required.
I showed him that TS bulletin dated 2/24/03 calls for 2000/XP as a minimum
or XP (Home or Pro)
as recommended. He said it was a mistake and the website states the
requirement correctly as
Pro. I checked later on and it was not true.

I told Al that I have a router, but no network. He said that just because I
have DSL I have a network.

He mentioned my router and Zone Alarm as another possible source of trouble
(Zone Alarm was
turned off during installation) and told me that Zone Alarm is sufficient to
close all ports and the
router is not neccessary which was incorrect.

He said he was 97% successful in resolving problems - after our
conversation, that may have gone
down to 96.

Finally, he excused himself "for a moment" and never came back.

I reported it to Stephen Pepe and received 2 more "Thank you for your
feedback" emails and then a message promising to follow up with Al and
Pepe's team because I "should not have received this level
of service" and asking me to allow them "another opportunity to make this
right" with me.

And that (4/21) was the last word from TS.

By that time I already decided to stay with TS6 for the forseeable future.
