It may sound counter-intuitive but designing and producing software that can
have optionally installed modules can be more complicated than producing a
single piece of software that is all or nothing.
Slow software often cannot be sped up. Things work a lot better if you
don't produce slow software in the first place. One key to this is for the
developer to determine what his minimum platform will be and then test key
components as they are developed on that platform so re-designs/re-writes
can occur during development when they will be far more effective and have a
much smaller impact on the development process. Developers often have the
hottest machines available and design with those machines as their "minimum
platform". If it's fast enough on their machine, it's fast enough.

Subject: RE: TradeStation 7 Feedback
I see the challenge of TradeStation. Every user has its his/her own wish of
special features. When you put all the things together, the program get
very complicated and runs slower.
A short term solution is to let user have a choice of continuing using
TradeStation 6. And I am still using TradeStation 6, because my computer is
not that powerful.
A possible long-term solution to design the program such that the user is
given the option to select features during the installation. For some
people, they will prefer a simpler/faster system. For others, they want all
the features and can provide the computing power to suppor them.
