Time on tick charts

Hi.

Does any one know a snappy way to write a routine which checks whether the
price has been above or below a specific level for x number of minutes on a
tick chart? With a time chart this is easy as you can just make sure that
the low of the past y number of bars is above a certain level. But what
about tick charts where each bar represents a different number of minutes?
