I had this problem too.  It turned out my temp directory was full of
other junk.  Clearing it out solved the problem.

I had also reset my TEMP and TMP paths.  For the longest time I was
frustrated by this SP5 installation failure because I thought my
TEMP directories were empty!  I have temp directories on all my disk
partitions, and even in some subdirectories.  Then I checked the
actual path set in the TEMP variable and noticed I had it pointing
to a temp directory that was, indeed, full of stuff.
