ADSL modems : How to get a good one for financial data flow ?

Hi, 

I am just about to get ADSL, my supplier says I must get a ADSL modem.

What should I ask the retailer, to make sure I get a good ADSL modem ?

I have no idea, what specifications are best for DATA flow, please advise. What
should my questions be, how do I compare apples with apples ?

my guess....
What is best bandwidth ?
How many MB per sec ?
