Gentlemen, let us not forget the 8th Amendment to our constitution, part of our Bill of Rights, nor the reasons that such amendments are part of our constitution:
Amendment VIII
Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.
Let us also not forget that the organization of our judiciary is constitutionally defined.
All officers of the United States, military and civilian, are sworn to uphold and defend the constitution.
I'm all for punishment, but not for violations of our constitution.
