last time i checked the major domestic oil companies owned most of the alternate energy technologies, so that's not too surprising that the government is not supporting em. one promising technology they don't own rights to yet are fuel cell power plants for residential use. one could virtual live on a mountaintop, deserted beach or back woods valley with all the modern conveniences with one of these things.
