The full web site is currently being shared privately only with people with a
strong potential interest in becoming an early adopter customer of PowerST,
getting started now, in the current prerelease period.
There are competitors out there (and I think every one of them has approached
me at one time or another trying to get information about PowerST). I am
trying to walk a fine line, balancing leaking of hints about unique features
to competitors with the need to slowly ramp up getting real customers using
the software.
The capacity to take on new customers is limited at this point. I am taking
it slow and careful, making sure early customers get plenty of support, and
the software is meeting their needs (including at times adding specific
features requested by early users).
To go into a little more detail (these are things which have been discussed
on this omega list before)
+) PowerST is current end of day data only. Intraday support is starting to
be worked on, but the initial release will most likely still be EOD only.
+) Something which seems to cause confusion: As the name "The Power System
Tester" implies, PowerST is strictly a testing platform. The specialty is
trading system research. There is no real time charting (and probably never
will be - I am hoping to eventually address real time via cooperative
partnerships with other software companies who are strong in real time
charting).
+) PowerST is targeted towards advanced traders. Traders who are more
interested in advanced testing capabilities than eye candy or simplicity.
The main reason I posted yesterday was because there was concern being
expressed about the TRAD announcement about 2000i. Someone was even talking
about starting a new project from scratch. My post was not a product
announcement, but rather I was casually saying that there is another
alternative emerging. Concern about future standalone platforms seemed to be
the topic for the day, and since I happen to be in the advanced stages of
developing a new platform, I couldn't resist posting.
Fact is I would take on 1 or 2 more customers at this time if I could find
people willing to start with the current feature set. There is a pretty
strong hint about this on the home page of the web site:
<<<<
If you have a strong interest in potentially becoming an early adopter
customer within this prerelease period, please send an email to
powerst@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx saying a few words about yourself and your trading.
>>>>
However, please no curiosity seekers, or competitors seeking hints! Only
inquiries from people who are sincerely interested! Otherwise, I can spend
all my time answering inquires and stall progress on software development.
Someone interested at this point would only be someone with a strong interest
in an EOD platform that has strong portfolio capabilities, including
portfolio money management. Also, to be direct about it, "prerelease" means
there are still some features missing. In particular, charting is not working
yet. However, the good news about charting is that just yesterday (unrelated
to my omega list post) someone put down a deposit with the agreement that
charting would be worked on as he is coming up to speed with rest of the
package. So finally charting is a top priority. Charting kept getting stalled
in the past because I was finding early adopter customers who were willing to
purchase PowerST for it's portfolio money management capabilities despite the
lack of charting, and those customers were requesting testing features in
preference to charting.
To quote a paragraph from the new web site:
<<<<
Certainly, there are those who will be interested in PowerST at the current
feature level and those who will not be interested at the current feature
level. Both points of view are fully appreciated. The goal of this Product
Status web page, as well as this PowerST web site in general, is to fully
disclose the current status of the software so prospective customers can make
an informed decision.
>>>>
I will be making announcements as charting is working and shaken out by
current customers, as well as general progress towards a more widespread
release.
