You could try it, but I expect it's not the .exe file that has
been damaged, but one of the several .dll files it uses. You
should check the version numbers of the original file you are
replacing (right click on the file name, select "Properties"
and click on the "Version" tab) and the file you are using to
replace it, to ensure they are the same.
If you use Win98, you will also find a copy of the .exe file
in "c:\windows\options\cabs" folder.
