In a previous post, I mentioned that I had problems upgrading to W2K.
I'm using an ASUS motherboard.  The hardware compatibility that I found
occurred AFTER I updated the BIOS.   If using an ASUS motherboard, check
the ASUS site.  Besides checking for direct feedback from ASUS, check in
the user forums.  That is where I found a discussion of the problem I
had.

As was reported in several posts months ago on this topic, the big
problem with the AMD set-up was the buggy motherboards supplied by FIC
and ASUS to support the AMD processor. If you did not keep up with all
of the BIOS upgrades, you could easily get "hosed". In some cases, we
were doing BIOS updates on a monthly basis.

However, reliability has improved dramatically from both suppliers over
the past 6 months. New technology is almost always problematic in the
beginning.
