Barry,
I have a dual P500 NTSP6 system and I remember when I set it up that the
disk transfer speed was very low. My motherboard is an Intel L440GX+ Server
board and I found that the Bus Master IDE Driver had not been installed and
once I installed it the speed picked up considerably.
Read & write modemode: 65536 blocks - Test file size: 10Mb
CPU Op Sys ATA read write
P500 NTSP6 66 16384 5418
The write is still slow but considerably faster than the original setup.
Booting the same PC to W95 OSR2 produces the following results
Read & write modemode: 65536 blocks - Test file size: 10Mb
CPU Op Sys ATA read write
P500 W95B 66 14840 11094
So, it the slow write appears to be NTSP6 related.
