I thought some you might want to know that Google (having acquired
DejaNews) has finally made available the OLD Usenet news archives,
back to 1995, a time when the S/N ratio used to be much better.

QUOTE: "New! Google has successfully integrated the full Deja.com
archive into the Google Groups service. That means that when you
search or browse within Google Groups, you now access Usenet posts
dating back to 1995. This archive is the largest such storehouse
of postings on the web and contains more than 650 million messages--
over a terabyte of human conversation, much of which has been
unavailable for years."

Btw, www.google.com is IMO currently the best search-engine (vs
metacrawler.com which was my prior favorite, combining several
engines into one interface).
