Since this is omega-list I will keep it short :)
1. UMDS M3 requires win NT or 2000.
- for those who cannot move to these 2 platforms
you cannot use UMDS M3. you may need to stick with v2.
- need more memory
- still the faster server I have ever seen, using
only 3% CPU load from open to close and no slow down
in other running apps, while it collects the whole
market tick-by-tick including bid-ask :)
2. The look and feel are diferent.
- better data display from the server
- better basic data correction tool
3. API-wise - more complex than before
- it is available from their site so whoever
interested in using the api you can check out the doc
first.
- better design than v2 in data handling
As a whole, I like M3 better than v2.
As a trader - M3 is a better backbone for the apps
I run. So very excited about it.
As a programmer - M3 is more complex and retool of
existing programs to M3 take some tricky effort, so
not that happy because of the workload.
So remember, your existing apps like
Windows on Wall Street v6/6.5, option Simulator/RT v3,
etc. which works on v2 will obsolete. To get the
power of M3, you will need to rethink what program
you will use to replace them.
