It is common knowledge that data feeds from different vendors, and
sometimes different data feeds from the same vendor will often
disagree.. Vendors do not guarantee accuracy.
If you must trade the shorter time-frames (5-min bars),
then you really should spend the most you can for the best
data services. You should have multiple redundant services too..
The cheaper alternative is too expensive..
This is vitally important for mechanical traders..
Especially for beginning traders, I suggest that trading longer
time-frames is the best..
For those who trade open-outcry markets, what we are
sold as "real-time data" is actually delayed data
compared to what a floor-trader has...
If bad intraday ticks are a real problem, the solution is
to get better data, or trade longer time-frames.
My experience is that all the popular data vendors have
problems.. So the real solution is, trade longer
time-frames..
