The downloads use the same password, new CDs use a new password. When Omega
released the SP4c CD, they issued a different "permanent" password from the
one used for the SP2 release which was different from the original release.
If they do happen to upgrade the TS2Ki CD further, they will probably again
issue new "permanent" passwords. One can only imagine the trouble that will
cause if you have an SP3 password and want to reinstall SP28 on a new
machine. You would have to load your SP3, then all the updates
sequentially, rather than popping in, say the SP26 CD, and only a few
updates. Needless to say, if you have someone else's password, you won't be
receiving the SP26 (or whatever) CD.
Another thing to keep in mind is that Omega says they encrypt the password
with unique customer information that identifies the owner of the password.
Their password sheet states that by distributing or publishing your
password you will lose your benefits as an Omega Research customer (oh
well), and will be obligated to pay to Omega the full license fee then
being charged for the software. I'll bet they're better at suing than they
are at software coding.
