Sorry for posting this directly to the Omega list but there were several
"backchannel" posts and I'm sorry that I did not have a chance to respond to
everyone. Hope that this third post isn't boring too many. I don't post very
often so I pray that you bear with me.
Bill Williams ((PhD., but we won't hold that too much against him!)) has
written several books. He has also stated that he has traded for over 40
years.
The most recent one is the 'system" that has been discussed recently. It is
a very simple system - to answer about the other indexes - works well on
Nazdaq and incidentally, there are much more volatile commodities than
either the Naz or the S&P: coffee, cocoa, Australian Dollar to name three
that immediately occur to me, and of course, everything I say is an opinion,
and I do not pretend to be a professional at all except to say that one day
I really may become more "professional" (in the spiritual sense) at being
human!
The setups are easily done, and the Center he has in Texas will be happy to
help. Based to some degree on Moving Averages and MACD, they are not some
new "black box" kind of hype. I like them. Next time you are in Borders or
Barnes and Noble, or your local book store, look through his book New
Trading Dimensions. It is around $60, what many other books are pegged at,
if you are interested in what has been discussed here.
It is however much more than just a formula to plug in, his book has some
interesting concepts that are from the perspective of his other field, I
believe it is psychology.
And that portion, the psychological aspects, are what are really interesting
in any system that is followed. Why do 90% of traders fall by the wayside?
It ain't 'cause we ain't smart enough!
It is the stuff that goes along with his system that is worth more than the
$60 bucks, no matter what system we trade. And if you are trader, the $60
bucks is meaningless. It is the time involved to read the book that matter
to me. And it is well written and "engrossing". And one comes away feeling
well served. Just my opinion. I have never spoken directly with Bill,
although one day I look forward to it. He has software that does exactly
"his system", but as he states, there are other programs that can do the
same thing, like from Omega, Equis, and the one I have used his stuff in,
Dynamic Trader.
Hope this helps a little, and doesn't sound too much like a commercial. Or
rather I should say, I apologize for it sounding so much like one, not
really intended to be.
Happy trades and may God Bless us all.
