FYI - just found out that the new DTN receiver for the new satellite feed is
being shipped. Options and Level II will be moved off of the old satellite
to the new one. So if you want options on DTN the new receiver is needed.
Stocks and futures will be on both satellites. It will cost $20 more per
month. Here are some potential gotchas if my understanding is correct.
Please correct me if you have other information. The receiver will output
via ethernet or RS232, but not both simultaneously. Neither TradeStation
nor Ensign are currently compatible with the etherlink output. Only
Chameleon is compatible with the etherlink so far. Running the ethernet
output through a hub is said to not work or not work well? TradeStation GS
can't keep up with the speed of the new datafeed even on a high speed RS232
serial port. That is somewhat ambiguous and may just require a dual cpu,
etc.. Best solution according to DTN is for Omega to program the GS to run
on an ethernet port. Anyone know what Omega's plans are on this or is this
where TS2k dies and TS2k.com tries to capture market share? Maybe TradeLab
and its MDS has a chance here? Did TradeLab programmers have the foresight
to make it compatible with an ethernet port?
fun fun,
