Win 2000 Pro definitely supports dual processors.

I think it's a mistake to try to disable one. It boggles my imagination to 
see how dual processors could interfere with a USB device.

Finally, I think you'd be better off junking the adsl USB device and 
getting one that talks to Ethernet. That will let you plug it into a 
firewall (if you wish), a box that allows multiple users with one line, 
LAN, etc.
