Comp: Norton?

I have recently purchased a new computer. It has Win98 on it, which has a
scan disk, a disk cleanup (which appears to just delete certain directories
like the temp files), and defrag. McAfee virus shield also came with it.
It does not have a "window doctor" like Norton had. (Near the end of the
life of my previous computer I had added Norton Systemworks 95/98.)

My question is this. In your experience w/ computers, would you add Norton
for the extra "doctor"? Or is it better to stay with the integrated
utilities. Second, if I install Norton am I better off buying a newer
version, than putting on a ~1year old version and upgrading (which might be
free)?

It's not the top of the line computer, so it may not pilot the Space Shuttle
or run TS2000 (I have TS4 eod), but it sure is a relief to have 128M memory
instead of 16M. (I just wish I had replaced it prior to the old HD crashing
:( )

TIA for answers to the slightly off topic Q.
