You're absolutely right, Gerald:

"the dialup connection" dropping is certainly a problem, but PCQuote's feed
failing to go back online after the dialup interruption is a showstopper. I
could live with the loss of a few ticks during the redial, but having to
rerun the setup wizard each time is way too painful a consequence.

Maybe the "dial-up connection" is the problem.

I've had a cable feed for months and have had very minor, count-them-on-one
hand, failures.

Just a thought... not a criticism of anyone.
