Ya gotta love that. THEIR system screws up so what do they do? They
charge you $30 to have some tech support guy (not even a real clerk) at
the end of a jammed phone line (busy signals) try to make it right.
IMHO, IB's lack of back office broker infrastructure is enough to give
them a big thumbs down for any except the most experienced traders. The
experienced guys probably have another account with a different broker
so they can lay off the trade when IB mucks up. For new guys, I think
it's better to pay a little more commish and go with a broker whose
electronic operation is seamlessly integrated with a good voice (real
person - experienced clerk - no busy signals) operation. ALL e-systems
have glitches and how the brokerage handles those is a big litmus test
for me. One bad trade due to a broker problem is going to cost you a
whole lot more than a few bucks of commish.
