Thanks Tom, but error only occurs when GS is running (or attempting to run).
I will take memory out and replace with other memory to see if that fixes
the problem. I had thought someone else had the same problem on this list
and thought there was another fix.

Sounds like you have a memory chip that has gone bad.  That happens
sometimes.
If the system is still under warranty, I would take it to a Gateway Country
store and get the memory replaced.
Memory chips are mass produced and occasionally all manufacturers get a bad
batch.
