A national sales tax is the only and the perfect solution to a huge trade
defecit that is getting worse and a negative savings rate .. the problem is
that the average american has begun to equate the pursuit of happines with
the freedom to shop without the impediment or deterrent of high sales taxes
so the whole idea sells like chunks of coal in Washington (a surefire way to
lose the next election) .. a very sad story really
