Win2000 locks up with ZA

Greetings,
  I installed ZA last nite on my w2000 machine
DSL: swbell
ISP: swbell
browser: NetScape Communicator 4.6 which has been custom
configured by swbell.
Computers: 1 700 athlon with 256 mb ram with
"client for ms networks" and "file and printer sharing" turned off.
ZoneAlarm installed to F:\ZA\.
and all default settings left alone at installation.

  My machine locks up while my browser is active. I mean
"Locks UP!" Cursors freeze, endtask does nothing, and
shutting off the machine is my only known recourse.
  I did reboot after installation.
  Uninstalling ZoneAlarm returns things to normal.

What was done wrong at installation?
  Install in default "c:\Programs" instead of "F:\ZA"?
  Use  ZoneAlarm settings other than "default"?
  Reactivate "client for ms networks" ?
