There has been a lot of discussion about Win2000 on this list lately, so I
thought I'd share my experiences with it. I installed it this weekend over
Win95. Everything went smoothly except all of my McAfee software had to be
thrown away and some of my COM port settings got scrambled.
TS4 works perfectly, and I'm not having any major trouble with TS2000
either. I said no major trouble, because I've had some form of problem with
that software ever since I installed it. The strange thing is I had more
problems under Win95 than I do now. There have been a few crashes, but that
happened before as well. The difference is this time the whole system
doesn't go down, which is nice. I should say that this TS is only used
offline, so I don't have any experience with the Win2000/TS2000 setup
online. Maybe that's where most of the bugs reside.
Anyway, if you are wondering whether or not to upgrade to Win2000, I would
definitely recommend it. You can always wait until next month when Omega
issues their next SP. Just make sure you do the upgrade over the weekend so
you have some time to fix all of the unexpected little things that might go
wrong.
