Dear Ron, Attila, & Group,
I've been using QFeed + DynaStore + TS4 off and on for the past month or two
and have been having all the problems that you have discussed, chart
slowing, chart stopping, crashing, etc.
Several weeks ago, I heard about the Pacific CommWare TurboExpress 920 Port
card and, after perusing their website http://www.pacificcommware.com , I
called them (800 960 6444) and spoke with their technical representative,
whom I recall was named Travis (?). I told him my problems with the
connection between DynaStore and TS4 and asked him if he thought his
TurboExpress card might help. He said "No" but offered to refund its
purchase price if I bought one, so I could test it and see if it might
help. I did buy one ($80) and have used a for the past week or two. I
cannot detect any difference in the performance of TS4 as a result of my
installation of the TurboExpress card.
I do hope that I am wrong about this, and I do invite you and anyone else to
see if the installation of a TurboExpress card or any other after-market
"fix" could improve the performance and reliability of TS4 to chart data
received from the DynaStore program.
Parenthetically, the TurboExpress card is an ISA-type card; Pacfic Comm Ware
does not build it in a PCI-type configuration, and their representatives
tell me that they have no intention of doing so. I would be interested in
obtaining a data-buffering serial card, like the TurboExpress (or the
defunct Telcor T-Port), made in a PCI-configuration. If any of you are
aware of such a card, I would appreciate your telling me its manufacturer
and their contact points, eg website, phone number, etc.
