I have changed from a 256MByte Intel PRocessor Celeron at 433 MHZ to a 500
MHZ Athlon with only 128 MByte. The time for backtesting was halved from 60
to 30 minutes.
I have understood that faster disks would improve this even further (anyone
tried storing the data on ramdrives?).
The Athlon has a very good floating point unit compared to Intel, and
probably is better than Intel for your calculations.
