Need EL help w/ BarStatus function

Can anybody tell me how to get the EL function,  BarStatus , to return a 0 
(zero) ?
According to TS2k online instruction:

  2 = the closing tick of the bar
  1 = a tick within the bar
  0 = an opening tick (valid only when referring to the open of the next bar)


I applied this, BarStatus(1)  ,  to a live Intraday Chart with 1 data serie, 
but so far has never seen a return of 0 .  I need to know the first tick of 
the next new bar.
