Bezier curves are extensively used in computer graphics;
for example, the Adobe PostScript Type-1 font format uses
cubic Bezier curves to represent the outline shapes of
letters ("glyphs"). Thus a good place to learn about
Bezier curves is in Graphics books; one great example is
Michael Mortensen's book "Computer Graphics Handbook"
      http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0831110023/

Amazon.com has it for $29.95 and they claim it
"usually ships within 24 hours".

Of course, the TrueType folks on the PC just _couldn't_
use the same thing as thos nasty Mac bastards, so they
chose quadratic B-splines to represent the outline
shapes of glyphs in TrueType. Wouldntya know.
