he built my computer. Highly recommend him if you can't find a local vendor
to build to your specs.
You tell him what you want and he'll do it. He charges $80 to assemble and
give a 2 yr parts warrenty and lifetime support. Decent guy, name is Pete.
He's since built 5 other computers for friends.
My specs are 6 months old.
Windows 98 -- because of multiple monitor support
450 AMD chip/ Soyo mobo with 5 pci
All of my PCI and AGP slots are filled with ATI xpert 98 cards. --- No sound
card
3 sticks of 128 ram
7200 rpm Western Dig hard drive
ISA has a network card for internet cable
Monitors are 19" ViewSonics G790 ($400 each from Master Repair -
refurbished)
I run four computers off one internet - using http://www.sygate.com best
$40 I've ever spent.
I've seen the software at CompUSA since I bought it off their site.
My new specs... waiting for next year before building a new computer.
Definately Windows 2000 software -- allows multiple monitors and Dual
Processors
In the meantime, I'm searching for some dual processor motherboards.
Considering the Athelon AMD chip or two Intel's. (or TWO Athelons if a dual
board ever comes out)
RAM - totally loaded. 250 sticks in all slots
Graphic Cards - Matrox Dual head - new out, and totally awesome!
- G400 AGP dual, but no PCI version. I'm on their case about this. Traders
need dual/quad available in PCI slots too. I recently read somewhere they
will be making the G200 in dual and quad versions. That's what I'm hoping
for. I would like to run 20 monitors using Omega on all of them. == hence
the need for fast CPU and loaded RAM.
I'm going to save one slot for sound. in case I ever want to get into video
games played on 20 monitors.
The missing part is stable software from Omega !!
I'll take your advice and not use Release #3.
I highly suggest a dedicated room to do the above. And have a electrician
do separate wiring
just for that room.
Have fun. If you find some good computer info coming out, let me know.
(dual mobo's, dual/quad pci cards from Matrox.)
