blah blah blah blah ...
S-O-R-R-Y, but I use this beast realtime running every day and night since it has
become available here in Germany in April.
Believe it -or not-, since then I'm still waiting for the first time I will have to restart
the server or reboot the system because of problems with TS.
Just to get things right: of course *I* reboot the system every weekend doing disk
defragmentation, virus scans etc., but I never had a crash using TS. The key for
stability is to have an absolute clean NT system with service pack>=4 because of
the updated ODBC drivers and no other software installed than TS and datafeed
software: no betas, no shareware, no games, no.... you get it.
So, there are no **stability** problems with TS2k, BUT the thing is
S_L__OO___WWWW like hell !!!
I run a double Pentium III 450MHz with NT4/SP5, tracking only 20 symbols and
charting two workspaces each containing 10 charts with a lot of graphical stuff
like trendchannels, support/resistance areas etc. Even with this double CPU power
the system is busy (won't accept inputs) for 30 seconds or so every minute waiting
for server data, doing it's calculations and updating charts.
Of course, we all know that besides of speed there are a lot of other things that
should be done by Omega to improve their software, especially regarding the 4-plot
limitation, global variables, double precision math, continuous intraday contracts,
plotting in subgraphs etc...
So at this time TS2k is definitely NOT suitable for stock traders tracking waste amounts
of symbols, but if you
- trade and track only a limited amount of markets AND
- own the appropriate hardware AND
- have a need for any of it's new features like no 64k limit
then you can go with it.
I don't care if you think I'm a newbie, an Omega-fan, a Cruz-employee or what else
you might think. These are just my experiences, I'm sure you have your's.
