Well, it appears I'm in more trouble than I thought. I tried several
approaches to solving the problem (thanks, John and Igor), but
neither one solved the problem.
Then I tried doing a clean install from my CD (build 18), and I
discovered I couldn't even add a symbol to my portfolio in that bare
install!!
If I try to add a symbol (such as SP futures) to the portfolio with
Auto Detect Exchange, it says it can't find it in the SU so I have to
specify the exchange. If I specify the exchange, it says something
like "Can't find FUTURES symbol SP in exchange CME, do you want to
add it?" If I say yes, it adds the symbol "SP" to my portfolio, but
apparently doesn't recognize it's a futures contract. I.e. it adds
"SP" but not "SP9U" etc. If I enter the symbol "SP" in the "Add
symbol to portfolio" dialog and tell it to search for it, the Server
hangs.
But if I look under "Tools: Symbol Universe", the symbol is there
just fine, as a Futures symbol on the CME.
Any ideas??
