no, it's a real BAD example that only a poster children for gun control
(ya know, like, sarah and jim ;)) could drag up.
FACT: in 9 out of 10 of the us's largest metro areas, the murder rate
has gone down over the last 10 years. the exception is detroit, which
the fbi can't figure out except most of it is drug related among gangs.
FACT: toronto does have a higher murder rate than the rest of canada.
FACT: toronto only has a population of 600,000 vs over a million for
detroit, so one would expect a higher murder rate ALTHOUGH DETROIT IS A
STATISTICAL ANOMALY among the larger us metro areas sez the fbi
FACT: when texas and oklahoma allowed citizens to carry concealed
handguns, the violent assault rate against citizens (murder, rape,
assault) has dropped yearly since. when you don't know who will kill
you if you do a bad thing, then it gives the wannabe criminal a reason
to stop and ponder his fate. i feel safer in a society were the
citizenry are armed rather than just the government!!!
besides, a nut with a truckload of ammonia nitrate and diesel fuel can
cause a hell of a lot more damage than a nut with a handgun or a nut
with a hammer.
