I got started in my current profession as a hobbyist and I've made a pretty
good living at it for over a decade now. I couldn't have started out of the
gate as a professional programmer; you just can't program like a veteran
after 6 months "on the job". You guessed right. Trading is a hobby for me
right now. I'm working to make it a profession. When/if I do succeed in
becoming a successful trader (discretionary, system, or some nutty hybrid of
the two), I will still abstain from forcing you or anyone else to accept my
definition of what type of trader I am or what type of trader you are. If
you have suggestions on how I can improve my trading, I will gladly listen
and if I get to the point where I can provide useful feedback to you, I will
do so. You can use your "discretion" as to whether or not to accept it. Or
perhaps you will create a "system" that says "if advice from Kent Rollins
then disregard". Your choice.

So far in the conversation on what type of trader we all are, Chuck LeBeau
was the only one to make a useful comment: if you hear a train coming and
don't know which direction it's going and you can't afford to get hit, step
out of the way. Bob Fulks made a good comment on shortly after that but
I've forgotten it in melee of Semanticism that has gone on since.

Kent (striving to be in that less than 1%, using discretion in my system
development)

It would be interesting to REALLY know how many of this group make a
living using T/S in any version. I would bet less than 1%. The rest and
most vocal are probably hobbyists which is OK.
