Hi Manning,

You can never "copy" a program from one Windows machine to another and have
it work. There are too many things going on behind the scenes during the
installation of a program.

You need to reinstall your TS 4.0 CD on the new computer first. Then, see
what version it is by looking at Help/About TradeStation. I suspect it may
be Build 18 or 19. It could be Build 21.

If it is earlier than build 18, you will need to contact Omega.

If you have Build 18 or 19, then go to the Omega site
(http://www.omegaresearch.com), and download the Build 21 patch and install
it.

Now, one way the other, you are at Build 21. Now go back to the Omega site
and download Build 23. This is the Y2K compliant version of TS 4. Install
this, and TS is ready.

To get your data and analysis techniques from your old machine, use whatever
method you want to replace the Omega directory at your root level (most
likely C:\Omega), with the same file from your old machine. Don't confuse
this folder where the TS 4.0 program folder (most likely C:\Program
Files\Omega). Don't touch this folder.

I hope this helps,

Neil

I am humbly asking for advice.

It's time to move my TS 4 to a new computer.

Can I just laplink all of the files from the old computer to the new one or
do I install TS 4.0 from the original CD and copy the data files from one
to
the other?

I would be very grateful for your responses.
