I work in lower Manhattan and have experienced a number of cable
outages over the past months. Worse yet, my BMI receiver fails to recover
automatically after the outages. On June 22nd, for example, I was absent
most of the day. Cable failed at 11:58; I don’t know when it came back for
upon my return I had to pull and re-insert the power plug to restart the data
flow. On July 1st the cable failed at 1:41 PM, coming back at 2:05. The BMI
receiver continued to send no signal, though “Carrier Data” was in capital
letters. After a few minutes I pulled the power plug to get back to business.
(I use TradeStation 4.21 with real time data feed. Re-booting the
computer doesn’t help; the program simply reports no data.)
Hoping that BMI could help I called Tech Support. After the customary
wait on hold I learned from Terrell on 6/24 and Walter on 7/6 that my problem
is not unusual. They were unable to suggest an alternative to manual
intervention.
Would you please confirm the BMI position on this matter? Thank you.
