RE: NT PRINT SHARING

Hi Mike,

This is a pretty easy thing to do...

First, I assume you are printing okay from the NT to the printer locally,
right?

Second, you can share the printer (make the share name 8 characters or less
for best compatibility)... don't set any extra settings and there's no need
to install the Win95/98 "Alternate Drivers" - simpler is better, just share
it.

Third, make sure you can now see it in Network Neighborhood on your other
computers.

Fourth, make a new printer on each client, specify NETWORK printer, and
point it at the shared printer on your NT. Install any appropriate Win95/98
drivers as prompted. Print the test page when prompted.

If you're getting prompted for passwords, etc., you probably specified
settings or permissions that are not necessary for most folks. If you
really get stuck, completely delete the printer from your NT system and
start from scratch... takes 5 minutes to reinstall and reshare a printer on
NT.

Hope this helps?

Doug
