The steps you have for preparing your computer are correct. You want to use
format and not fdisk. What would be a good idea is to use the following
command: "FDISK /MBR", without the quotes. What this does is clean up any
"garbage" that may be in the master boot record without doing a complete fdisk.
One reason you do not want to do a FDISK is if your hard drive has any sectors
marked as bad, doing an FDISK will clear out the table that contains the
locations of the bad sectors.
As far as the TS files someone with more experience needs to help you out.
