I've used a USR Courier internal modem for years and this is by far the best
modem that I've ever seen. If you no choice but to use analog phone lines,
then this is modem to get. It is the only modem I've seen that consistently
connects, maintains and actually increases the connection speed. As was
stated previously, you definitely get what you pay for in this case.
I've been using a cable modem now for over 6 months to access the Internet
and would never go back to phone lines (analog or digital) for Internet
access. No dial up, constant connection and about 100 times faster.

More expensive components which allow better filtering and
adaptation
to changing line conditions. No modem actually runs at its rated
speed, but test results indicate that the under real world conditons
the Courier has higher throughput and fewer dropped connections than
less expensive modems.
